39 Most Lovable TV Families of All-Time

We watch TV for many reasons. But identifying with families such as our own is one of our favorite past times.

For decades there have been television families that have won us over, whether they be on dramas or comedies; in black and white or color; live action or animated or simulating real life or; shall we say, special.

Some of our greatest families include single parents, dysfunctional extended families, aliens, singers, witches, drug dealers, mob bosses and more.

There are eight series alone that feature the word "family" in the title. A lot of actors find themselves on the list more than once, making you wonder if there's a special formula for TV greatness.

You tell us. Flip through the list and let us know if we missed your favorite TV family!

The Pritchetts and the Dunphys - Modern Family
This might seem like a unique take on the modern family, but you'll discover it was a long-term collaborative effort that paved the way for this success. That doesn't mean we're not treated to one of the funniest, most genuine extended families ever to grace the airwaves.

19 TV War Heroes to Salute on Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day, TV Fanatics.

In honor of this important holiday, we've put together a photo gallery of various television characters who have served their country proudly.

These men and women range from the leader of network TV's most-watched show... to someone who had his hand eaten by a seal... to a doctor who is forever affected by his time overseas.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs
This NCIS team leader is a veteran of Desert Storm action in Iraq. He was a gunnery sergeant in the Marines. We thank him for his service.

There’s also a former physician who now solves crimes, an advertising executive and the small screen’s best known billionaire. No, not Donald Trump.

So stand up straight and prepare to salute as you click through the above slideshow and pay tribute to these fictional heroes. Jobs very well done, veterans.

17 Red Hot Redheads: Who is Scorching the Small Screen?

Throughout the world, myths about redheads permeate every culture, with the most common being that those with fire-hued hair are crazy.

We here at TV Fanatic are rewriting that myth, effective right now. Redheads are crazy hot.

From drama to comedy, some of our favorite characters proudly rock their red hair and steal our hearts in the process. Behold, TV's hottest redheads!

Fun fact: Red hair is a result of a single genetic mutation, which means gingers are basically superheroes. Someone put Jensen Ackles in a cape and tights, STAT! (He totes has a red beard, guys. THAT COUNTS!)

Making up just 1-4% of the world's population, perhaps the on-screen number of redheads is in line with their real-world representation. But we don't care. MORE REDHEADS, PLEASE AND THANKS!

Those who made it into this gallery of redheads of the fictional world are proving that they're worthy of our biggest TV crushes. They're funny and flawless on screen (and probably off).

Now it's your turn, TV Fanatics! Who wins your vote for TV's hottest redhead? Sound off in the comments below!

21 TV Characters to Celebrate on Administrative Professionals Day

$

The Office's Pam Beesly once said, "I don't think it's many little girls' dream to be a receptionist."

I don't know if that's necessarily true. Once upon a time, it was kind of exciting to imagine working in an office in an administrative capacity, but the job has never gotten the respect it deserves.

To that end, those who occupy the available positions have become stronger, sassier and more efficient. In many cases, their bosses – if not the company they work for – would fall apart without their presence. Think Della Street on Perry Mason and Donna Paulsen on Suits.

For every fabulous, go-to wonder there's a snarky lazy-bones like Karen from Will & Grace or Cheryl on Archer. Find out who else makes the cut and give a shout out to some of the most memorable administrative employees in television history.

There are some fun similarities running through throughout the characters. Not only are there a lot of sexy, sassy and capable types, but red hair is a common theme.

Judy Greer happens to play two of the characters in our slideshow and David Spade has the honor of playing both an executive assistant and the boss of one of the other assistants on the list!

When you flip around, do you find anything else that stands out? Did we miss any of the admins throughout history that stand out in your memory? Let us know. No matter your profession, work hard and play harder.

Throwback Thursday: 21 Captivating Cult Classics

It's Throwback Thursday! This week, it's all about the cult TV shows we're still pretty darn obsessed with.

These are the shows that may have lasted only one season, but their dedicated fans made them become cultural phenomena. Or maybe they are the shows that made it several seasons, but still live on through comics, fan-fiction, memorabilia, and action figures. Some are even taught in the university classroom.

The bottom line?

The fans of these shows are passionate, and with good reason! All of them not only make for great television, but they've also inspired other popular current series. Chances are, some of your favorite shows right now wouldn't exist if it weren't for the ones on our list.

From quirky comedies to vampire slayers, these cult TV shows are ones we miss -- big time. The good news? Some have gotten closure through movies (one of them was actually funded by the fans), and others have reboots in the works right now. We can't wait for the return of The X-Files!

As for the others, it's worth it to binge-watch each of these shows more than once.

Which of these cult TV shows is your favorite, and which ones did we miss? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Ready to do the chicken dance, Arrested Development Fanatics?

About two months after Brian Grazer confirmed a fifth season of the classic sitcom was in the works, the producer provided a few more details Tuesday during a podcast with Adam Carolla.

Arrested Development Threesome

“Netflix is determined to do more episodes, so we’re going to do more episodes,” Grazer said, adding that production will begin “after the first of the year” for a Season 5 premiere “four months after that.”

So we're talking some time in late spring.

Even the most ardent of supporters can likely admit by now that Arrested Development Season 4 was a mess.

But the series that originally ran on Fox from 2003 to 2006 was the wittiest, most intelligent comedy of all-time.

Here's to hoping Season 5 can recapture the magic of these Arrested Development quotes and speeches.

Throwback Thursday: 13 Funky Fictional TV Bands

Music has always played a big part in our TV experience, but sometimes it's more than just a quiet song played in the background.

On this Throwback Thursday, we're looking at some of our favorite fictional TV bands (from shows such as Parks and Recreation, which you can watch on Amazon Prime to shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer that you can watch on Amazon Prime) that we wish were real!

A couple of these are funny parodies of real bands, some struggled with finding the perfect name, and others simply provided opportunities for the characters to blow off steam. As they say, music can be a form of therapy.

Whether you were rocking out to "Killer Tofu" on Saturday mornings, or swaying along to "5000 Candles in the Wind,"  take a moment to revisit these awesome made-up TV bands.

So which groups made our cut? Which ones did we forget?  Check out the slideshow and be sure to let us know in the comments.

1. Hot Sundae - Saved by the Bell

Hot sundae saved by the bell
Sure there was also Zack Attack, but Hot Sundae was featured in easily one of the most recognizable episodes of the series. Who can forget watching Screech sub in for Jessie after she became addicted to caffeine pills and couldn't perform?

2. The California Dreams - California Dreams

The california dreams california dreams
The members of The California Dreams navigated through the normal teen high school problems, but unlike most teenagers, they also dealt with the difficulties of trying to earn a record deal. The show's theme song was an original song performed by the band, and the majority of the actors even sang their own songs.

3. The Beets - Doug

The beets doug
Doug's favorite band, The Beets, performed classics such as "Killer Tofu," "I Need Mo' Allowance," and "Shout Your Lungs Out." Sadly, when the show moved to Disney, the band broke up, but Doug managed to get them back together to perform at a school dance.

4. Mouse Rat - Parks and Recreation

Mouse rat parks and recreation
Andy Dwyer's band had more band names than songs, but Mouse Rat is the one that stuck. With memorable songs including "The Pit" and "Catch Your Dream," Mouse Rat gained local success with "5000 Candles in the Wind," the memorial song written for miniature horse, Lil Sebastian. While Mouse Rat never made it big, Andy went on to garner a little more success as a solo kids' performer under the stage name Johnny Karate.

5. Dingoes Ate My Baby - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Dingoes ate my baby buffy the vampire slayer
The Dingoes were the band to see at the only club in town, the Bronze. Oz got his first glimpse of Willow, dressed as an Eskimo, while he was on stage playing guitar with the band. After they started dating, Willow and the rest of the Scoobies were seen dancing along to their songs several more times until Oz left Sunnydale, and Willow, behind.

6. Creation - Freaks and Geeks

Creation freaks and geeks
Creation (also known by other names) featured members Daniel Desario, played by James Franco, on guitar and Nick Andopolis, played by Jason Segel, on the drums. The group performed mostly cover songs such as "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Crossroads." The band was especially important to Nick, who felt the only way he could avoid military school was to make it big as a drummer.

All TV shows, no matter how successful, are eventually canceled. Sooner or later, whether they've been on the air one season or ten, the network drops the ax and the series is over. But there are a rare few that have been reborn to find an audience once again.

Whether it is due to a rabid fan base, a production studio willing to renegotiate or a miracle granted by the TV gods, there are a unique group of shows that have managed to defy the odds and be brought back from the dead.

We're talking Veronica Mars (available now on Amazon Prime!). We're talking Firefly (also available now on Amazon Prime!).

And we're talking overall about 23 TV shows that were amazingly brought back to life.

1. Veronica Mars

Veronica mars movie poster

Proving that the series has its own superpower, it will be back on NBC with a 13-episode miniseries as Heroes Reborn in Fall of 2015.

3. Entourage

The entourage
Entourage aired on HBO from 2004 to 2011, but cancellation couldn’t keep the boys from Queens down for long. After eight seasons on TV, they took their story from the fictional big screen to the real one as Entourage the movie was released in theaters in June of 2015.

4. Firefly

The cast of firefly
Firefly didn't even get to finish out its one full season on FOX back in 2002 but despite its early cancellation, the fans love for the crew of the Serenity never died. In fact, it got stronger. So much so that a feature film, Serenity, was released in theaters in 2005. Hope of a sequel has always had fans of Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, and the rest of the memorable cast feeling shiny.

5. Arrested Development

Arrested development cast pic
Arrested Development originally aired on FOX from 2003 to 2006. The unique comedy garnered critical acclaim, six Emmys and one Golden Globe as well as quite the cult following. It was so popular that even after it was cancelled, Netflix brought it back to life and released a fourth season in 2013.

6. Longmire

Longmire poster
Sheriff Walt Longmire kept law and order over at A&E for three seasons but when the network pulled the plug after a cliffhanger finale, fans were outraged. Thankfully, Netflix stepped in and signed up to produce a fourth season which should be available later this year.

1. Dec. 1st: "The Bracebridge Dinner" - Gilmore Girls

The bracebridge dinner gilmore girls
We begin with Gilmore Girls since I know most of you are going through withdrawals after binge watching season 8 in one day. On this episode, Lorelai and Sookie plan an elaborate meal only to lose their guests when they’re snowed in so they decide to invite the town instead. Throughout the beautifully decorated festivities, Rory pretends she’s not interested in Jess, Luke pretends he’s not interested in Lorelai, and Lorelai’s parents get a much needed mini-vacation. You can watch the full episode on Netflix.

2. Dec. 2nd: "Santa Simulation" - The Big Bang Theory

A girl for koothrappali
It was hard to pick just one Christmas episode from The Big Bang Theory but this is my favorite because it has a girls night out, Raj and Amy sharing hilarious horror stories of dealing with the opposite sex and a soft side of Sheldon. On this episode, the guys plan a Christmas themed Dungeons and Dragons game where Santa is kidnapped. When the girls learn they're not allowed to play they get dressed up to show the guys what they're missing and go out for drinks. Raj ends up tagging along which provides some of the funniest moments of the episode. During the game, we learn that Sheldon hates Christmas because he asked Santa to bring his Pop Pop back from the dead when he was 5 and all he got was lincoln logs. You can watch the full episode on CBS All Access.

3. Dec. 3rd: "The Strike" - Seinfeld

The strike seinfeld
A Festivus for the rest of us! Kramer wants to resurrect the forgotten holiday which George's dad invented as an alternative to the commercialism of Christmas. We also find out Kramer's been on strike for 12 years and finally goes back to work at a bagel shop only to go on strike again when they refuse to give him time off for Festivus. Elsewhere on the episode, Elaine is trying to track down a guy she gave a fake number to because she accidently wrote it on the back of her free sub card and George creates a fake charity so he doesn't have to give Christmas gifts to his co-workers. It's a classic Seinfeld episode and one of the best of its last season. You can watch the full episode on Hulu.

4. Dec. 4th: "A Very Sunny Christmas" - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Very sunny christmas pic
Dennis and Dee are their usual whiny, entitled selves as they complain that Frank buys the presents they want and keeps them for himself. This year it’s a Lamborghini and a designer purse. Charlie and Mac reminisce about their childhoods which turn out to be horrific as Charlie discovers his mom was banging multiple “Santas” and Mac’s family was breaking into other people’s houses and stealing their presents. As usual the group is at their worst and it's awesome. Uplifting? No. Heartfelt? Not at all. The episode ends with them throwing rocks at trains because it’s really the only thing they have left to hold onto. You can watch the full episode on Hulu or Netflix.

5. Dec. 5th: "Christmas in the Car" - Bob's Burgers

Christmas in the car bobs burgers
This episode reminds me so much of 2001's Joy Ride. The Belchers head out on Christmas Eve to get a new tree after their first two die. While out, they cut off the driver of a candy cane truck who responds by chasing them. In their attempts to avoid him they end up spending Christmas Eve and the first few hours of Christmas in the car. Meanwhile, back at their house, Teddy stops by to turn off the oven and ends up stealing the episode. You can find current episodes of Bob's Burgers on Fox Now.

6. Dec. 6th: "The Best Chrismukkah Ever" - The OC

The best chrismukkah ever the oc
This episode will always be remembered for Summer's gift to Seth -- her in a Wonder Woman outfit. I mean, DAMN. The girl looked amazing. Anna was great but we all knew she didn’t stand a chance. Although Seth was forced to pick between the two girls, he will never have to choose between his mother’s waspy Christmas and his dad’s Jewish Hannukah because he created the best holiday ever – Chrismukkah. Eight days of presents followed by one day of many presents. The fact that it was Ryan’s first Christmas with the Cohens only made it that much more special. You can watch the full episode on Hulu.

There are the lawyers that do good – Jack McCoy, Marshall Eriksen, Sandy Cohen.

Then there are the lawyers that look good – Jessica Pearson, Olivia Pope, Harvey Specter.

Finally there are the lawyers that make you question the entire legal profession – wait, actually that's most of them. We don't have the time or space to make that list right now.

Love them or hate them, lawyers serve a vital purpose in our litigious society.

They fight for the wrongly accused; prosecute dangerous criminals; educate and shape young minds; and all in all try to make this world a better place.

There are bound to be lawyers I forgot, so don't hesitate to add your favorites in the comments.

And remember to watch The Good Fight on CBS All Access, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 8:00 PM ET.

Now without further ado...

1. Will Gardner - The Good Wife

Josh charles as will gardner the good wife
Will Gardner, played by Josh Charles, was a ladies man and a cunning attorney. We got to see his romantic side through his relationship with Alicia and his loyal and supportive side through his friendship with Diane. He was flawed, but an all around good person. The Good Wife season 5 episode 15 will go down as one of the most shocking, heart breaking episodes in series history.

2. Annalise Keating - How to Get Away with Murder

Annalise keating
Portrayed by SAG and Emmy award winning actress Viola Davis, Annalise is a passionate attorney with a troubled past and present. She fights vigorously for her clients but also ends up on the wrong side of the court room from time to time. She has complicated relationships with everyone in her life and though she tries to be a good person she is usually unsuccessful.

3. Barry Zuckerkorn - Arrested Development

Barry zuckerkorn
Arrested Development was just renewed for Season 5, and I'm seriously hoping we see Henry Winkler's character again. In later seasons he may have been fired and replaced by Bob Boblaw, who was equally incompetant, but the Bluth's need someone who knows their true crazy and still defends them vigorously. Or at least tries to. Sometimes. Even if he has no idea what he's doing.

4. Jackie Chiles - Seinfeld

Jackie chiles
Everyone knows Jackie Chiles, portrayed hilariously by Phil Morris, was based on Johnnie Cochran. They both wear glasses, have mustaches, and are well-dressed with a penchant for grandiose vocabulary. Jackie Chiles was initially brought on to represent Kramer but he ended up playing a crucial role in the series finale thanks to the gang's "lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous" behavior.

5. Erin Reagan - Blue Bloods

Erin reagan
Erin Reagan, played by Bridget Moynahan, is the daughter of police commissioner Frank Reagan, a New York County Assistant District Attorney and a single mother. She's dealt with shootings inside courtrooms, hostage situations, and physical assualts but she remains strong. An avid gun owner with a preference for glocks, she is the best shot in the Reagan family.

6. Jack McCoy - Law & Order

Jack mccoy
Sam Waterson played Jack McCoy from 1994 - 2010. He started out as the Executive Assistant District Attorney before becoming the New York County District Attorney. Jack had a difficult childhood which no doubt affects his adult relatiomnships. He's been divorced twice, has a strained relationship with his daughter and tends to have inappropriate relationships with his subordinates. When it comes to law, he's willing to bend the rules a little if it means justice will be served.

Netflix is officially bringing Arrested Development back for Season 5!

The news was confirmed by series creator, Mitchell Hurwitz confirmed the news that was rumored for a long time.

The Bluths

“In talks with Netflix we all felt that that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days,” he said.

“I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille, and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say, Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life.”

The entire main cast — including Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat are all tapped to appear in the new season of the hit comedy series.

It's crazy to think that the series debuted way back in 2003 and is only going into Season 5. The low season count can be attributed to Fox canceling the series in 2006 after three seasons.

Netflix swooped in and saved the series six years later, handing the series a fourth season renewal.

Response to Season 4 was mixed, with many feeling it felt like a long, drawn-out goodbye for the characters. Thankfully, it seems like that Season 4 was just the tip of the iceberg.

With more episodes on the way, we sure can't wait to find out what's in store for us. Ted Sarantos from Netflix said, “the Bluths will collectively be spending more quality time with their millions of fans around the world.”

Does that mean the season will be set around the world? If so, we're even more intrigued.
